Self-Care for Moms Isn’t Selfish (And No, Hiding in the Pantry Doesn’t Count)

If you’ve ever eaten a chocolate bar in your car before walking into the house because you knew you’d be asked to share it… Welcome!

We’ve been waiting for you. We meet every Sunday at 9 am. No, you don’t have to shower or change your clothes. Here’s our new member pamphlet.

But seriously, you are welcome here. And we do send an email out every week on Sunday with all the mom shortcuts and sanity savers. Try it out here.

Talking about self-care kind of pisses me off anytime the focus is on busy moms like me. Because somewhere along the way, we were sold the idea that self-care means expensive spa days, weekend retreats, or waking up at 5 a.m. to meditate while the rest of the house sleeps peacefully.

It went from filling your own cup to straight up pampering yourself. I’m all for a good pamper session, but respectfully, have these people met children?

The truth is that self-care for moms often looks a lot less glamorous. So if you’re struggling to find the time, the money, or the support to invest in yourself in the bigger ways, try filling your cup a little at a time.

Self-care Ideas for Moms Who Don’t Have Time for Self-care

  • Drink your coffee while it’s still hot.
  • Read a chapter of your book before bed.
  • Take a walk alone or sit outside by yourself while the kids play or nap.
  • Set boundaries with your kids and/or partner. (My big one is that I get to eat my dinner hot, so once I sit down with my food, I’m unavailable to help the kids until I’m done eating.)
  • Order takeout when you’re too tired to cook.
  • Say “no” without apologizing for it.

Tiny acts of care count. In fact, they’re often the ones that matter most.

Motherhood is a marathon run with an armful of snacks, juice cups, and emotional support stuffed animals, all while looking for 17 things nobody else could find. (They swear they’ve looked everywhere.)

You don’t need a complete life overhaul or a new life planner. I mean, you don’t need one, but I do. It’s definitely going to help me get my shit together this time. Definitely. 😅

You probably just need ten minutes, a good boundary, or a little reset.

What’s one small thing you do for yourself that instantly makes your day better?

Daily me time .. I prefer a hot bath with lavender, and a self care routine of goats milk moisturizer and coconut oil on my feet in a reflexology massage and then some quiet time in the bedroom some mind clearing and peace

I start my day with gratitude affirmations and am always amazed at the “before and after.” I feel so much better afterI’ve completed it.
