Why You’re Not a Rage Monster, You’re Just an Overstimulated Mom

Woman with curly hair looking angry and frustrated.

There’s tired. There’s stressed. And then there’s standing in the kitchen wondering why the sound of your partner chewing feels like a personal attack. Suddenly, the lights are too bright, the television is too loud, and the shoes your kid left in the middle of the floor again has a wave of rage bubbling up inside you.

If you’ve ever:

  • Hidden in the bathroom for five minutes of peace
  • Snapped at someone and immediately felt guilty
  • Felt touched out before lunchtime
  • Needed silence so badly it hurt
  • Forgotten what you were doing halfway through doing it
  • Wanted everyone to stop needing something from you for just ten minutes

You may be experiencing a case of Mom Overload™.

The good news? You’re not a rage monster. You’re not a bad mom.

The bad? You’re officially overwhelmed, and I kinda think you need to do something about it.

Sometimes you’ve got to call in the troops and get whatever support is available to you, but sometimes there is no support. You’re on the front lines alone. Other times, you just need a short reset.

Wherever you’re at, that’s exactly why I created the Overstimulated Mom Emergency Kit—a free printable filled with quick resets, permission slips, easy dinner ideas, scripts for asking for help, and tiny ways to feel like a human again.

As parents I think we all feel this. Just wanting to be left alone for a little while, to drink your coffee in peace or to not have kids repeating your name over and over again. Yes please!

Such an important reminder. Sometimes we’re not angry at all, we’re simply overwhelmed and running on empty.

I didn’t know what I used to feel weekly raising my kids was called Mom Overload…But this makes so much sense to me because I was doing way too much without dedicating any time for myself.
